Mariette R. House
D/b/a Mariette Rose
A native of Rhode Island, Mariette’s first introduction to sewing was through the public school system. She starting sewing in the seventh grade and hasn’t stopped. After attending Johnson & Wales University, she attended adult education classes, learning more techniques to finer sewing.
In 1972, while living in Lincoln, NE, Mariette was introduced to the Bishop Method of Clothing Construction -- BMCC. Mariette studied the BMCC in classes offered through the University of Nebraska and the Lincoln education system. Since that time, all of her sewing has adhered to these sewing principles. She studied under the late Kitty Rotruck, national BMCC lecturer and author, and Marie Kehr, retired BMCC teacher-trainer and author. Mariette was a member of the Bishop Method of Clothing Construction Council from 1976 until it disbanded in February of 2002.
Mariette is a Certified Educator for Wild Ginger Software. She is also an accomplished knitter, crotchetier, and weaver. She teaches classes in all of these areas as well sewing and Pattern Master.
